A New Era of Sustainable Yachting
A major milestone in marine innovation is on the horizon. Florida-based Altitude Water has partnered with RM Design Pro to create the SXR 68 XL, the first U.S.-built yacht capable of producing its own drinking water directly from the air. This groundbreaking vessel integrates atmospheric water generation (AWG) technology into its core design, setting a new standard for off-grid luxury.
Built for Performance, Luxury, and the Planet
At 68 feet, the hybrid-powered SXR 68 XL offers solar regeneration, AI-based controls, and a fully American-made supply chain. Unlike other yachts where sustainability features are added later, this vessel was conceived from day one to operate with minimal environmental impact.
“This is more than a yacht, it’s an off-grid, energy-efficient vessel that produces clean drinking water without relying on desalination or bottled water,” explained Jeff Szur, Founder and COO of Altitude Water. “By designing the AWG system directly into the yacht’s core infrastructure, we’ve eliminated the taste, reliability, and maintenance issues that plague traditional marine water systems.”
Meeting the Highest Standards
The SXR 68 XL meets rigorous requirements from the United States Coast Guard (USCG), The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC), the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier IV. It is being entirely designed and built in the United States, ensuring both quality and charter-readiness.
A Partnership Rooted in Innovation
This project was brought to life through M2 Holistic Studio, a design firm known for combining wellness, sustainability, and technology. Co-founders Marta Halwany and Mahria Carolihna were early adopters of Altitude Water’s technology in homes and saw the potential for yachting.
Yacht designer Rogerio Mariani of RM Design Pro instantly recognized the value. “When M2 introduced Altitude Water’s technology as a sustainable solution for onboard water, I was instantly intrigued. We integrated the AWG system with our AI-based Yacht Integrative Control Systems & Monitoring (YICSM), creating a blueprint for future vessels.”
Breaking Away from Conventional Systems
Unlike traditional reverse osmosis systems that require seawater desalination, extensive filtration, and maintenance, the SXR 68 XL’s AWG technology pulls clean, great-tasting water directly from humidity in the air. This means no plumbing to the sea, no salt corrosion, and no plastic waste.
“We’ve placed portable AWG units on yachts for years,” Szur said. “But the real vision was always full integration. With this partnership, we’re delivering a self-reliant water solution that can scale across the industry.”
Shaping the Future of Yachting
The result is a modular, solar-regenerative yacht that eliminates the need for external water provisioning, increases off-grid capability, and improves charter ROI — all while dramatically lowering environmental impact.
The SXR 68 XL is more than a yacht. It is proof that luxury and sustainability can move forward together, reshaping what it means to explore the seas responsibly.
