Miami Takeover Returns: Celebrating 50 Years of Go-Go, Art, and Culture

Where the sun meets the sand and rhythm meets the soul, The Miami Takeover (MTO) is making its powerful return to Miami Beach from July 25–28, 2025—and it’s bringing more than just the heat. For three electric days, the shoreline will pulse with the unmistakable heartbeat of Go-Go music, while the air vibrates with the voices, stories, and artistry of Black culture at its finest.

Powered by the Greater Miami Conventions and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) and the Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority (MBVCA), this vibrant celebration joins the prestigious Art of Black Miami series—turning the city into a living gallery of rhythm, resilience, and radiance.

Now nearing its 20th year, The Miami Takeover is no ordinary festival. Born from Washington, D.C. and steeped in Black excellence, MTO has evolved into a bold, soulful movement—one that fuses culture, community, and creativity into every beat and brushstroke. From beachside concerts to artistic showcases and soul-stirring conversations, MTO isn’t just a destination—it’s an unforgettable declaration of pride, purpose, and power.

Founded by three visionary HBCU alumni from the Washington D.C. area—Wylie Kynard, Antwoine McCoy, and Vincent Peden—MTO blends the rich spirit of the DMV with the vibrant energy of Miami. Designed especially for HBCU graduates, cultural tastemakers, and lovers of authentic art, music, and community, this signature event hits its 17th year stronger than ever.

“Our goal is to create a space where Black culture is not only celebrated but uplifted,” said Vincent Peden. “We’re thrilled to honor 50 years of Go-Go music at our flagship event—The Art of Go-Go Culture Fest—right in the heart of Miami Beach.”
