Louis Vuitton is continuing its storied relationship with the world’s most prestigious sailing competition by renewing its commitment as Title Partner of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup, set to take place in Naples in 2027. This marks a historic first for the event, as Italy prepares to host the America’s Cup for the very first time, following the 2024 edition in Barcelona.
The sea has long served as a powerful source of inspiration for both sailors and storytellers, shaping legends defined by courage, innovation, and excellence. In 2027, Naples will become the backdrop for the next chapter in this legacy, blending competitive sailing with heritage, craftsmanship, and modern design.
Beginning in 2026, five elite teams, Emirates Team New Zealand, GB1, Luna Rossa, Tudor Team Alinghi, and K-Challenge, will face off across multiple preliminary race phases. The Louis Vuitton Cup, serving as the official challenger selection series, will commence in May 2027 in Naples. Each challenger will be vying for the opportunity to compete against the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, with the goal of securing a place in America’s Cup history.
A defining creative element of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup Naples 2027 is its visual identity, inspired by a design from Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the grandson of the House’s founder. The graphic prominently features the iconic “V” of Vuitton, a symbol Gaston-Louis transformed into his personal signature in the early 1900s. Originally used to mark his own luggage, the emblem drew inspiration from heraldic coats of arms, rendered in navy blue, white, and red. Today, the “V” stands as both a mark of Victory and a reflection of the America’s Cup values of determination, innovation, and excellence, reinforcing the House’s enduring message that Victory Travels in Louis Vuitton.
This partnership highlights a shared commitment to performance and craftsmanship. The cutting-edge AC40 and AC75 foils represent the height of technical precision in modern sailing, while the Trophy Trunks for both the America’s Cup and the Louis Vuitton Cup are meticulously handcrafted by artisans at Louis Vuitton’s historic Asnières workshop. Together, they symbolize the fusion of advanced engineering and traditional savoir-faire.
Founded just three years apart in the 19th century, the America’s Cup in 1851 and Louis Vuitton in 1854 share a bold heritage shaped by ambition and innovation. Their partnership began in 1983, when Louis Vuitton helped redefine the competition by introducing the challenger elimination rounds known as the Louis Vuitton Cup, opening the race to a broader field of international teams. That transformative moment reshaped the sport and laid the foundation for the modern America’s Cup.
Today, Louis Vuitton returns as a key supporter of the event’s newest evolution, coinciding with the creation of the America’s Cup Partnership, a governance model designed to promote openness, modernization, and inclusivity across the competition.
“We are delighted to support the America’s Cup in its new transformation, ushering in an even more modern and inclusive era,” said Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton. “Together, we experienced the Cup’s first major transformation in 1983 with the creation of the Louis Vuitton Cup, and today we are honored to be present for this new historic edition, the first to take place in Italy, once again demonstrating that Victory Travels in Louis Vuitton.”
Grant Dalton, CEO of the America’s Cup Event, echoed that sentiment. “Louis Vuitton is synonymous with the modern America’s Cup. They were there in 1983 when the competition went through one of its biggest transformations, and they are here again today with the formation of the America’s Cup Partnership. It is a shared journey rooted in excellence and transformation for more than forty years.”
As the world turns its attention toward Naples, the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup Naples 2027 promises to be more than a sailing competition. It stands as a global celebration of heritage, innovation, and the enduring pursuit of victory on the open sea.
