For Dr. Priyal Doshi, fashion has never been simply about creating something beautiful.
The fashion designer, Doctor of Physical Therapy, MBA and wellness advocate is the visionary behind Priyal Doshi Couture, a luxury label built around the idea that craftsmanship and purpose can exist within the same garment.
On September 18, that philosophy arrived at Dartmouth House in Mayfair, where Priyal Doshi Couture presented during the sold-out Fashion Represents and Paris Runway Official showcase. Editors and fashion media from across Europe attended, including representatives from Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Grazia and Glamour.
Indian Artistry With a Global Perspective
Inspired by the richness of Indian artistry, Doshi combines heritage craftsmanship with a contemporary approach to couture.
It is a vision that has already traveled extensively. Her collections have appeared on fashion platforms across New York, Milan, Paris, London, Zurich, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Atlanta, as well as at events surrounding the Cannes Film Festival, an Oscar Viewing Gala and the Mrs Universe Pageant.
Yet behind the international reach is something more personal.
Doshi sees clothing as an opportunity to celebrate individuality and diversity—and, when possible, to start conversations that extend beyond fashion itself.
When Fashion Has Something to Say
Throughout her work, Doshi has used collections to bring attention to issues including women’s empowerment, body positivity and support for survivors of violence.
It is an approach that challenges the idea that luxury must exist separately from meaning.
The craftsmanship can be intricate. The clothes can command a runway. But the message behind them can matter, too.
That combination gave Priyal Doshi Couture a natural place within a London showcase focused on independent designers bringing distinctly different perspectives to Fashion Week.
For Doshi, September 18 became another international stage but also another opportunity to demonstrate the philosophy at the center of her brand.
Because at Priyal Doshi Couture, fashion isn’t only designed to make an impression. It’s designed to have a voice.
