Pusha T and Pharrell Turn “Grindin’” Into a Coffee Brand With Lavazza

More than two decades after “Grindin’” helped define an era of hip-hop, the record’s influence is finding its way into an entirely different kind of grind.

Pusha T and Pharrell Williams have partnered with Italian coffee company Lavazza for the launch of Grindin’ Coffee, a new premium coffee brand that transforms a piece of Clipse history into a lifestyle product built for a new generation.

The debut arrives with two blends, a dark roast and medium roast, developed alongside Lavazza and available in both ground and whole bean varieties. But the collaboration is about more than putting two famous names on a bag of coffee. It represents the continued evolution of a creative relationship that has stretched across music, fashion and culture for decades.

From a Hip-Hop Classic to a Lifestyle Brand

The Grindin’ name carries weight.

Released by Clipse in 2002 and produced by The Neptunes, “Grindin’” became one of the defining records of the duo’s early career. Its famously sparse percussion, unconventional production and unmistakable rhythm made the track instantly recognizable.

Pharrell and Chad Hugo’s production helped establish the sonic landscape around Pusha T and Malice, while Clipse brought a lyrical identity that made the partnership difficult to replicate.

More than 20 years later, Pusha T and Pharrell are returning to that history without simply recreating it.

Grindin’ Coffee takes a familiar cultural reference and gives it a completely different physical form. The name works naturally within coffee culture, but its connection to the original record gives the brand another layer for anyone familiar with the history behind it.

It is nostalgia without being trapped by nostalgia.

Lavazza Brings Italian Coffee Heritage Into the Collaboration

For the actual coffee, Pusha T and Pharrell have partnered with Lavazza, bringing the Italian roaster’s 130 years of coffee experience into the development of the first Grindin’ blends.

The collection begins with two distinct options.

Grindin’ Coffee’s dark roast combines beans sourced from Central America, South America and Southeast Asia. Its flavor profile leans toward cocoa, caramel and brown spices, creating the richer and more intense option of the pair.

The medium roast is made with South American beans and offers notes of bittersweet chocolate, caramel and roasted hazelnut.

Both roasts are offered as whole bean or ground coffee and are designed to accommodate different preparation styles, including traditional filter coffee, espresso and cold brew.

That flexibility also makes the launch feel less like a novelty collaboration and more like an attempt to establish Grindin’ as an actual coffee label capable of existing beyond its celebrity connection.

Pusha T and Pharrell Continue to Expand Their Creative Worlds

The project also reflects how dramatically the boundaries around musicians have changed.

For artists like Pusha T and Pharrell Williams, creative identity has never been restricted to the recording studio. Fashion, design, luxury, hospitality and consumer products have increasingly become extensions of the same cultural language artists once communicated almost exclusively through albums and performances.

Pharrell, in particular, has spent years moving fluidly between those spaces, building a career that extends from music production into fashion, design and luxury. Pusha T has similarly cultivated an identity that reaches beyond his discography, with fashion and carefully selected collaborations becoming part of his broader cultural presence.

Grindin’ Coffee feels particularly fitting because it does not abandon their shared history to enter a new category. Instead, it uses that history as the foundation.

The original “Grindin’” represented ambition, repetition and relentless pursuit. Coffee, almost universally associated with the beginning of the workday and the rituals surrounding productivity, gives the name an unexpectedly natural second life.

When Music Becomes Something You Can Hold

There has been no shortage of celebrity products in recent years, but the more interesting projects tend to be those that have a reason to exist beyond name recognition.

Grindin’ Coffee has that advantage.

Someone encountering the brand without knowing Clipse can simply see it as premium coffee developed with an established Italian roaster. For longtime fans, however, the packaging carries an inside reference to a record that helped shape early-2000s hip-hop.

That dual identity could give the brand room to grow.

It also illustrates something larger happening across music and fashion culture. Catalogs are no longer only collections of songs. For artists with recognizable imagery, phrases, aesthetics and cultural moments, that history can become intellectual property capable of moving into entirely new categories.

A song released in 2002 can become the foundation for a consumer brand in 2026 without losing its original cultural meaning.

That may ultimately be the most interesting part of the Pusha T and Pharrell collaboration.

They are not simply revisiting “Grindin’.”

They are expanding what it can mean.

Grindin’ Coffee’s dark roast and medium roast are available now exclusively through the brand’s online store.
