Under the dazzling lights of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) hosted its highly anticipated 2025 Impact Awards Gala. The event brought together leaders in film, television, and media to celebrate Latino excellence. More than just a red carpet affair, the gala was a powerful tribute to culture, creativity, and community.
The evening was hosted by writer and comedian Al Madrigal alongside actress and producer Jessica Marie Garcia. Together, they guided the audience through an unforgettable night of recognition and reflection.
Legacy, Leadership, and Lived Experience
This year’s honorees embodied the strength and diversity of the Latino community. Each award reflected a unique story and an inspiring journey.
Rey Mysterio, WWE Hall of Famer, received the Legend Impact Award. In his emotional speech, he stated:
“I’ve been proud to carry the Mexican flag—literally and figuratively—for my people… Our stories matter. Our presence matters.”
Xolo Maridueña accepted the Ensemble Impact Award on behalf of Cobra Kai. He highlighted the deep connections formed through the show:
“It’s not just about where the show has taken us, but how it brings families together across generations.”
Phil Lord, honored with the Visionary Impact Award, shared a message of empathy and unity:
“A person doesn’t make a movie—a community does. What if we treated every immigrant like family?”
Celebrating Authentic Storytelling
AppleTV+’s Acapulco earned the Authentic Storytelling Impact Award. Cast members Camila Perez and Enrique Arrizon, joined by creator Austin Winsberg, accepted the honor. Winsberg emphasized the importance of genuine representation:
“We committed to authentic, three-dimensional portrayals of Latin culture—starting in the writer’s room and extending through every department.”
Isabela Merced, awarded the Next Generation Impact Award, expressed her appreciation for the collective spirit of the community:
“In this space, one person’s win never means another’s loss. We uplift each other.”
Powerful Female Voices
Actress Daniella Pineda received the Outstanding Performance Impact Award for her bold and unconventional roles. She remarked:
“I got to play an antihero and a villain—characters we don’t always get to see Latina women portray.”
Cris Abrego, who accepted the Leadership Impact Award, spoke about perseverance in challenging times:
“This industry is tough, but we’ve always fought harder. Real leadership must be about legacy—about change that outlives us.”
NHMC President & CEO Brenda Victoria Castillo also delivered a compelling message:
“Latinos are multicultural. Our strength lies in our diversity—it’s what makes us unstoppable.”
A Night of Unity and Progress
The event welcomed a star-studded guest list, including Melissa Fumero, Francia Raísa, Belissa Escobedo, Harvey Guillén, Linda Yvette Chavez, Lisa Vidal, and many more. Together, they represented the future of inclusive storytelling.
Thanks to support from partners like Apple TV+, Netflix, T-Mobile, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and others, NHMC continues to push for progress. Their work extends beyond the gala, advocating year-round for more Latino writers, creators, and on-screen representation.
More Than a Gala—A Call to Action
The 2025 NHMC Impact Awards Gala served as a powerful reminder: representation is not optional—it’s essential. By recognizing the changemakers of today, NHMC is shaping a more inclusive future for all.
As honorees took the stage, one message echoed throughout the night—our stories matter, and the world is better when they are told.
