Liamani is not waiting for permission to take over the music scene. At just 16, the singer, songwriter, and actress is stepping into the spotlight with purpose and heart. Her latest single, “True Love,” is now available through Def Jam Recordings and sets the tone for her upcoming EP titled Dear Little Me, which drops on August 15.
The track begins with a light, melodic guitar that lays the foundation for Liamani’s soft yet commanding vocals. She reflects on a love that feels uncertain, singing lines like, “Thought the distance made us closer / Now I’m thinking that it’s over.” The emotion intensifies when she asks, “If you could hurt me on my birthday, what would you do on my worst day?”
These lyrics are not just poetic. They are a real look into how it feels to question love, especially when it arrives wrapped in confusion and pain. The chorus floats gently as she sings, “What is true love? Is it even what it seems? Is it only make believe?” It’s honest. It’s raw. It’s the kind of songwriting that sticks with you.
Liamani already made waves with her debut single “Sunkissed” and follow-up “Hanging by a Thread.” Each release has shown different sides of her artistry, but “True Love” hits differently. It’s stripped back and emotional while still delivering a powerful message. It proves she can hold her own as a vocalist and storyteller.
The release of “True Love” also marks the beginning of a bigger moment. Her debut EP Dear Little Me is set to be a personal and emotional project that speaks to younger versions of herself and to fans who may be walking the same path. It’s not just music. It’s a letter of growth, healing, and self-awareness.
Her music career isn’t the only place where she’s gaining attention. Liamani is also starring in Disney’s upcoming film Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, slated for release in 2026. On top of that, she recently appeared in GAP’s 2024 holiday campaign. Her talent and presence are catching the eye of some of the biggest names in the business, including Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, and Wayna Morris of Boyz II Men.
It’s clear Liamani is building something meaningful. Her sound is fresh, her voice is pure, and her message resonates. If “True Love” is any indication of what’s coming on Dear Little Me, then fans are in for something special.
Be sure to stream “True Love” on all platforms and mark your calendar for August 15. Liamani is just getting started.
ABOUT LIAMANI
Liamani is wise beyond her years. The 16-year-old singer-songwriter’s dulcet, cascading vocals have earned her a record deal with Def Jam Recordings, a lead role on Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, shout-outs from pop icon Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber and many other well-known artists as well as the support and mentorship of Boyz II Men’s Wanyá Morris.
Liamani was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin with a rich heritage. Her father, an Army vet, is Mexican, and her mother, a nurse, is both Puerto Rican and Salvadorian. With their musical influences, Liamani taught herself to sing at a very young age, via YouTube, to some of contemporary pop’s most moving ballads. Not only was she able to learn the songs, but she also captured their outsized sorrow and triumph. The skill has stayed with her to this day and imbues her music with poignancy and precision.
She went on to learn “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which she sang at a school talent show at age five. It was the first of many viral moments. When she finally started writing her own music, she used her personal journal for inspiration and would pull out the best entries to piece together into songs. The resulting music is heartfelt, exacting, and vulnerable, often offering nuanced, fresh perspectives on heartache, friendship, and nostalgia.
