Rising alt-pop singer-songwriter Caroline Romano has officially announced her new EP it took me falling, arriving March 13, alongside the release of her latest single, “Unsteady.”
Following recent standouts like “Cruel and Unusual Punishment” and “Up the Stairs,” “Unsteady” offers another intimate window into the emotionally expansive world Romano is building with this new project. One of the EP’s most tender moments, the track unfolds like a sonic poem, built around plucky guitar melodies and delicately vulnerable vocals. The production is restrained and intentional, allowing the emotional weight of the lyrics to shine through.
“It’s a song about falling in love and letting yourself do it,” Romano shares. “I’ve learned that love has made me soft and brave and terrified and happy, and so much more myself in ways I never knew before. I wanted to capture that discovery in ‘Unsteady.’”
With it took me falling, Romano presents a vivid snapshot of personal growth and resilience. The six-track EP explores the beautiful chaos of finding yourself while chasing a person, a dream, or a deeper version of who you are. At its core, the project reflects on the necessary discomfort and heartbreak that often precede something transformative.
Hailing from Mississippi and now based in Nashville, Romano has steadily established herself as one of alt-pop’s most compelling rising voices. She seamlessly transitions between misty ballads and fiery alt-rock anthems, blending raw lyricism with dynamic sonic landscapes.
Her 16-track debut album, Oddities and Prodigies (2022), introduced her as an artist unafraid to confront emotional complexity.
